Scandinavian Social Dance
Learn poetic, graceful dances of Scandinavia, accompanied by folk tunes that sprang up alongside them. First hour is a step-by-step lesson, followed by an hour of open dancing. New and continuing students welcome. No need to bring a partner.
Dances from all five Nordic countries are taught, from beginning to more advanced levels by instructors who have been teaching and dancing for many years. With some exception, open dancing is done to live, authentic folk music, with recorded folk music periodically played. Flowing, graceful dances of continuous movement offer low-impact, joyful exercise. The values of inclusiveness and community are stressed, with newcomers of all ages warmly welcomed and receiving special attention to develop their skills.
