Your instructor for this section is Matt MacNaughton, who wants you to succeed, learn and grow!

Technology

Computing requirements

Students will need to have a capable PC or Mac to host a virtual machine and run a linux image locally, or use a remote access program that will be available to access a linux virtual machine running in the cloud.

Most modern hardware is up to the task, however chrombooks, tablets and other lightweight devices may not be sufficient.

Textbook

The text for this class is an online text ""TestOut Linux Pro 6.0"  Purchasing through the publisher directly, TestOut, may cost less and arrive quicker than purchasing through the bookstore.  So, I'd recommend you buy the textbook directly from TestOut online instead of through the PCC Bookstore.  Details on the online textbook will be in the syllabus at the start of the term.  Either way you purchase it, the course textbook will require a subscription fee to access.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
