Details about this class
Welcome to 231! I am so glad you are joining me! Everyone in the class should feel valued, included and welcome. I can't wait to meet you and learn with you!!!! Here are a few pictures of me and welcome videos
Lecture & Lab Materials:
*The Text* Feel free to use any edition of Saladin (textbook) for the class (Anatomy & Physiology: The Unity of Form and Function, Saladin ANY edition). Ignore that you must buy the new edition (from the bookstore) and buy any version!
*The Lab Manual* Please do not buy anything for lab. The lab manual is a pdf and is free inside our course shell.
Attendance:
Lecture is hybrid. Please plan to watch lecture videos on your own before the in person portion of lecture meets on Tuesdays. The videos and the in person part of lecture are both important pieces to the lecture.
Lecture and Lab meet in person at RC, building 7, once per week. Can you check your schedule and make sure you can join the in person parts of both lecture and lab? Thank you!
**I will hold study Zoom sessions time TBD that are optional but highly recommended.**
Weekly Routine:
Our class is divided into weekly modules. All lecture material is recorded and the student should watch weekly videos prior to class. Each chapter has lecture notes to use and fill in while you watch the video. During lecture time, we will cover content that was challenging, answer practice test questions together. During lab time, we will go over lab material together. We will finish the lab each week with a short, shared, collaborative discussion. We have homework due each week on Sunday night.
Tests/Quizzes:
There are two tests, two lab tests and a final exam. In addition, there are 5 low stakes lab quizzes given during the term. Lab/lecture quizzes and tests are given in person. Don't worry, we will practice the type of questions on the test each week during our time together.
Optional Lab Summary: Everyone has the opportunity to learn something a little deeper in the A&P realm with this summary (3 or 4 paragraphs of research).
Participation: I will have some participation points in lecture and lab.
I look forward to meeting you! See you in Winter!!!
Grading Criteria:
Lecture is worth 70% of the final grade and lab counts as 30% of the final grade.
Grades are assigned as follows: 90-100% A 80-89% B 70-79% C 60-69% D <60% F
Technology
Please have access to the internet and a computer that can open Google Suite, Word and PDF (have a backup computer plan). You will need to create documents in one of these formats. You may also need to convert images (gif, jpeg, png) to pdf files. There are free apps to do this (I use the free Adobe to PDF converter app).
No show policy
Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
