Details about this class

Welcome to Biology 112, Cell Biology for Health Occupations.

This course is a fast-paced, challenging course designed for students who intend to pursue a career in the healthcare field. This course is a laboratory science course designed as a prerequisite course for students who plan to take microbiology and/or anatomy and physiology. Topics include the study of the scientific method, cellular chemistry, cell structure and function, principles of inheritance, and laboratory skills.

This is a hybrid class, meaning we meet once a week for a recitation time where we will do group activities to support your learning and a three-hour in-person lab, with a break of an hour between. Exams also happen during recitation time. The remainder of the class is asynchronous and online. The instructor uses a modular design with weekly online discussions, quizzes, and activities to help keep you moving through the material. This style of class requires personal motivation and organization.
