Details about this class
In my BA 205 course, you’ll develop practical communication skills you can use in the workplace and everyday life. We’ll focus on professional writing, email, presentations, listening, audience awareness, and feedback. You’ll also explore how emotional intelligence (EQ) and CliftonStrengths support effective communication and leadership.
I emphasize learning through practice, reflection, and real-world workplace examples. Expect professional writing assignments, applied communication activities, and both individual and team-based work.
This course uses an instructor-developed Business Communication Playbook along with CliftonStrengths for Students and Emotional Intelligence 2.0 materials.
If you have already completed either assessment through another course, your workplace, or a professional setting, you do not need to purchase the materials for that assessment again, provided you still have access to your results.
This is a fully online course, with learning and participation taking place in D2L. The course follows a weekly schedule with posted deadlines. Plan to log in regularly, complete readings and assignments, and participate in online activities. Setting aside consistent time each week, working independently, and communicating when you need help will be important to your success.
