Details about this class
This section of WR121 is a hybrid class, meaning we meet some of our 6 weekly contact hours together during group instruction and the rest asynchronously via D2L. Our class meets from 10 to 11:50 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the summer term via Zoom. The remaining instruction and contact hours will happen asynchronously via D2L.
Please account for at least a couple of hours every week of online content, which may include video lectures, discussion board, social annotation, online tutorials, course readings, among others. You will also be asked to submit work via D2L on a regular basis in multiple formats.
Please contact me at Kim.gardner2@pcc.edu if you have any questions.
Technology
This is a remote, synchronous course held on Zoom, which means we will meet online together on Tuesdays and Thursdays (10:00 a.m to 11:50 a.m.) each week. To fully participate in course activities, students are strongly encouraged to attend using a computer (rather than a phone) with a reliable internet connection.
Because this is an interactive writing course, being visible and engaged supports our learning community. Students are expected to have their webcam on during class unless they have communicated with me in advance about specific needs or limitations, as they arise.
If access to appropriate technology is a concern, please know that PCC often offers support, including laptop and webcam lending through the library. Please reach out to me if needed, so that I can ensure you have what you need to participate fully in the course.
No show policy
Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
Online technical requirements
Please be sure to read the quick guide to Online Learning technical requirements.
Students with disabilities
Students with disabilities should notify their instructor if accommodations are needed to take this class. For information about technologies that help people with disabilities taking Online based classes please visit the Disability Services website.
