Action Theater: Body-Based Improvisation
For movers who want to talk and talkers who want to move. Play improv games that involve movement, sounding with the voice, and speaking. Discover your body's connection with imagination. Find trust, spontaneity and your innate creativity.
Action Theater is a practice of improvisation with roots in physical theater, dance and meditation. We expand awareness of the present moment by focusing on our senses. This will be the starting point of your exploration, creating improvisations that are less cerebral and more embodied. This work is useful for enhancing everyday living or performance skills. You'll do exercises that explore form, imagination, listening in ensemble and partnership, and releasing judgement. You'll become aware of habitual patterns of expression and begin to explore beyond what is familiar. This class invites a strong sense of playfulness and connection which leads to a feeling of community and re-enlivens relationships.
