Class Structure

  • There will be one or two videos to watch about course content before each class. You should take notes about the videos on premade course notes. I intend to make this a "flipped" classroom, so you will watch videos and take notes BEFORE class, then work on additional problems in groups with my help IN class.
  • Come to class to fill in the rest of the course notes, ask questions, get to know your classmates, work on problems in class, and figure out the details of the course.
  • In person attendance is required and will be tracked through in class assignments. Please come prepared to participate!
  • I will record class on Zoom and recordings will be available in the Zoom tab for anyone who cannot make it to class.
  • Come to student-hours when you have questions and read the textbook to help fill in gaps in understanding.

Assignments

  • There will be online homework using MyOpenMath to solidify comprehension.
  • There will be 4 or 5 Graded Assignments posted online throughout the term, and you'll have a week to do them at home. They are all free response questions.
  • There will be one midterm exam and a final exam. The two exams will all have a portion that must be taken in class with no notes, books, or calculator. Each will also have a portion where calculators, notes and the text may be used. This second portion may be finished at home if you need additional time.
