Details about this class

This is a fully online asynchronous course with no scheduled live meetings. Students will complete weekly modules through D2L Brightspace. Course materials, assignment instructions, lectures, announcements, due dates, and feedback will be posted in D2L.

Students are expected to log in regularly throughout the week, review announcements, complete weekly assignments by the posted deadlines, and contact the instructor early if they have questions or need help. First-week participation is required and may include completing an introduction activity or another required course activity.

This course introduces students to data analytics concepts and tools, including data preparation, structured and unstructured data, data mining, predictive analytics, OLAP concepts, data visualization, dashboards, and reporting. Students will gain hands-on experience cleaning, analyzing, visualizing, and presenting data for decision-making.

Technology

Students will need access to a reliable computer, stable internet connection, D2L Brightspace, and a supported web browser. Students should also have access to spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. Additional free or commonly available data analytics tools may be used during the course, such as SQL/database tools, Tableau Public, Google Looker Studio, Python, or similar tools. Setup instructions will be provided in D2L Brightspace.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
