Details about this class

The class will introduce students to the American legal system, including the legal reasoning process, how courts work, the use of civil and criminal law to pursue just outcomes to disputes, intellectual property law, and contract law. Our D2L web site features numerous Camtasia mini-lectures and notes on various areas of the law that are not covered optimally by our textbook. There will be weekly quizzes and discussion boards, three assignments during the term, and a few extra credit opportunities. Students are expected to engage with the D2L site at least five times a week. Those who apply themselves will emerge from the course with a clear understanding of our legal system, and of how to protect themselves against unnecessary legal liability in everyday life. It is a entirely online class, with no simultaneous interaction between the instructor and the class.
