Details about this class

Hello!

In ART210: Women in Art, we look at art made by women and art that addresses gender and identity through history. This class mostly involves looking at art, reading, writing, written discussion, and three quizzes on the course content. We will begin by looking at the most contemporary art and issues, and simultaneously dip into historical eras.

There is no required textbook, and you can complete the course with the readings and other (such as video) resources provided in each weekly module. If you are interested in book resources to support your learning, please let me know.

The class is structured around weekly content modules and learning activities include discussion posts, short interpretive essays, creative assignments, and quizzes.

This is a fully online class that does not meet on Zoom. All work can be completed asynchronously.

Check out a liquid syllabus here, which has some additional information about the course format and what to expect, as well as our course wellness statement (this page will be updated by the start of the term).

Check out a sample of a previous syllabus here (the syllabus for our class will look a little different, but the general feel and layout of the class are consistent; I will have an updated syllabus ready for you by the start of the class). Here's also a link to a sample course calendar and reading list so you can get an idea of some of the resources we'll use!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions about the course. I'm happy to help :)
