Screenwriting From Script to Screen
Learn about the art of screenwriting from concept to production. Develop a draft of an original short film script using professional techniques, story structure and creative exercises rooted in Portland's indie film culture. Beginners welcome.
This dynamic ten-week workshop guides students through the full creative process of screenwriting - from generating ideas and crafting loglines to writing, revising, and preparing a production-ready script. Students will learn story structure, dialogue, character development, and industry formatting. Each participant will complete a draft of an original short screenplay by the end of the course and gain practical insight into how to turn it into a film with local collaborators. The class integrates discussion, peer feedback, and real-world case studies from Portland's thriving independent film community. No prior experience required - just curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to tell your story.
