Details about this class

Want to learn how to produce a literary journal?

Then sign up for WR 246/249 this spring!

  • In 10 jam-packed weeks, we’ll produce both a print and a web version of The Bellwether Review–PCC Rock Creek’s student literary journal.
  • We'll meet In-person at Rock Creek on Tuesdays from Noon-1:50 p.m. for editorial meetings and to workshop your own creative writing.
  • We will also have 2-hours/week of ONLINE work that supports our editorial development of the journal and workshopping of your creative writing to take the place of a 2nd weekly meeting required for 4-credit courses.
  • Students will share their own creative writing--in any genre--for class workshop, leading toward the creation of an individual chapbook, website, or finalized drafts to submit for publication.
  • We will also host a reading and release party during finals week for students whose work is included in the journal and for the PCC Rock Creek community to celebrate the release of this year’s publication.
  • This is a hands-on class that is more like an internship than a theoretical course on editing and publishing.
  • This class fulfills a requirement for those working towards the Creative Writing Focus Award.
