Details about this class
In the next eleven weeks, the class will work toward finished projects that are supportive of professional careers in a variety of disciplines. We will begin by discussing the job search and necessary materials and progress onto various types of office documents and professional reports and proposals. Students will explore various types of professional and technical documents through discussion and application. At midterm, each participant will settle on a central topic of exploration and decide which type of professional writing is appropriate to their focus. Is a grant proposal something that you would like to explore or are you intent on learning how to write a clear, concise manual? Some students may opt to write professional report that explains the history, reality, and perhaps, future of an industry, business, or part thereof. Whatever direction each student’s project follows, the tasks will be similar, requiring excellent written and visual explication and support.
