Details about this class
In addition to the Open Access textbook (Sociology 3E https://openstax.org/details/books/introduction-sociology-3e), we have one required textbook that is not Open Access.
It is the book Outliers, by Malcolm Gladwell. If available, it can be checked out at campus libraries (https://alliance-pcc.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/permalink/01ALLIANCE_PCC/6pu76u/alma995083114001848) or at the public library.
If not available at the library, it can be purchased at the PCC bookstore or at online retailers for around $20 or less.
Attendance in class on Sylvania campus Wednesdays from 11:00 am to 12:50 AM is required.
Technology
We sometimes use Kahoot in class. Having a phone or tablet that can join Kahoot is preferred, but not required.
This class is hybrid on campus and online. Students will need access to the internet and a computer to use D2L for assignments and other class materials.
No show policy
Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
Online & Remote Teaching Technical Requirements
Please be sure to read the quick guide to Online Learning technical requirements.
