Details about this class

This course will be an opportunity for you to reflect on what science tells us about human development and how it relates to your life (past, present, and future) and how culture and environment impact development. Further, I will ask you to think critically about the commonalities and diversities of today’s multicultural society and its impact on development. Your learning of development across the lifespan will be facilitated through lectures, readings, podcasts, videos, presentations, and assignments. The facts and theories about growth and change that people experience during their lifetime are fascinating. However, it will be the discussions shared by you and your classmates that will make this class memorable.

Virtual attendance is required each week. Students will be required to join class virtually beginning 4/2 from 6 pm - 7:50 pm. Online, asynchronous participation may begin as early as 4/1. As this is a combined Remote + Online course format, students will be required to read/watch course materials weekly to prepare for class. It is critical students check D2L 2 -3x per week and are capable of completing readings, assignments, etc. on their own time.

Technology

Students will need to utilize a computer/tablet/smartphone with a webcam and microphone to participate in the remote portion of class and access course materials. Students must also utilize a document editor software (Microsoft Word, Pages, Google Docs, etc.), presentation software (Powerpoint, Google Slides, etc.) and free graphic design software (Canva, Lucidchart, Mural, etc.) to complete some of the required assignments.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
