Details about this class
This is a really interesting and fun class and I look forward to meeting you all! While you may have taken a psychology class before, I'm guessing you have not taken one quite like this. This class is really aimed at taking psychological theory and applying it to our lives in an effort to improve our relationships and ability to get along with and understand others. We will spend a lot of time reflecting on how things are working in our lives and looking at ways we can continue to grow.
This class will be a remote/online hybrid style class. What that means is that we will meet via Zoom, but only once a week. To make up for the other day of class, we will have some asynchronous assignments/activities each week. Hopefully we will be able to find a good balance of synchronous and asynchronous learning that will meet your needs for flexibility and also some regular check in time in the actual classroom!
We will utilize our in-person Zoom time differently depending on the week, but some of the things that will be included will be lecture, small group breakout activities, small group discussion, deeper explanation on assignments and larger group discussion. Aside from that time, you can expect to have some asynchronous activities online. This will include videos, readings, activities and a weekly discussion forum as well as regular assignments.
Here is a copy of a syllabus from a previous term to give you an idea of what will be covered in class as well as the workload. Please feel free to reach out any time you have questions!
Best,
Shawna
