Details about this class
Course Description: Applies psychological principles to relationships in both personal and professional environments. Includes an overview of basic personality and social psychology concepts, as well as specific skill development in the areas of communication, listening, and conflict resolution.
Prerequisite: WR 115, RD 115 and MTH 20 or equivalent placement test scores. Audit available. This course fulfills the following GE requirements: Social Sciences/AAOT, Social Sciences/AS, Social Sciences/AAS, Social Sciences/AGS, Social Sciences/ASOT-B.
Intended Outcomes for the Course: Upon successful completion students should be able to:
1. Apply an understanding of psychological and social influences on human behavior to objectively analyze one’s own interpersonal experiences and relationships.
2. Utilize intra- and interpersonal management skills to increase effectiveness in personal and professional relationships.
3. Use knowledge of culturally diverse practices to increase sensitivity and competence in a variety of social and cultural interactions.
4. Communicate, listen, and manage conflict more effectively in personal and professional relationships.

Either the 11th, 12th, or 13th Edition will work. You should find one that is the cheapest. and either a paper copy, hardcover, or eBook. You can also get by without a textbook if you read the PowerPoints, attend all lectures and take great notes.
Remote Class
This class is a Remote class meaning we will have classes on the days and times listed above except for finals week and on the days of the exams.
Attendance: You must show up to the first class session AND complete the syllabus quiz or you will be dropped from the course as a “no show”, as per college policy. All of the class meetings after the first class meeting are optional and there will be no penalty for missing class.
To enter a Zoom meeting, go to the “Zoom” tab on D2L.Cameras on Zoom: You do not have to have your camera on during the class meetings, however, you must have your camera on if you are asking a question or making a comment.
· Group Activity Time Period: Immediately after the lecture ends (Time permitting). We will have class activities, discussions and videos to enhance the material from the week’s readings and topics for the week. During the group activity time period, you must show yourself on Zoom video because you will be working in groups and it is helpful to see who you are talking to and collaborating with. Attendance is not mandatory except for the first class meeting.

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
