Details about this class
PL 101 is the first required class in the Paralegal program and Legal Assistant career pathway program. All students who have taken WR 121 are eligible to take the class. The class contains information about the legal profession - primarily paralegal careers - as well as an introduction to the US legal system.
Textbook for this class, for PL 102, and for PL 108:
INTRODUCTION TO LAW FOR PARALEGALS W/QUIZZING; Edition: 8TH 23; ISBN: 9798889064077
If you purchase your book from the PCC bookstore, it will contain an access code that you need for a future class. see below You can also use your financial aid to purchase books at the PCC bookstore.
If you purchase the book from a source other than the PCC Bookstore, you will not get the Quizzing access code and if you take PL 108 (legal analysis and writing), you will have to purchase it separately for $59 (last I checked, could have increased price) on the Aspen website. Getting the book and code will be more cost effective than buying them separately.
*If you plan to take the entire program, you should purchase the 8th edition of the textbook from the PCC Bookstore to receive access to a required quizzing program that you will use in a future class (PL 108 - Legal Analysis and Writing). This program is available for separate purchase for $59. You will also use this book in PL 102 - Survey of Substantive Law. Please consider these facts when deciding where and whether to purchase the textbook.
******Please note******
This class is combined with another CRN. This means that students enrolled in the other section(s) of this class will be able to see your discussion board posts, but they will not be able to see your section's classlist. You must let your instructor know that you would prefer not to be visible to students enrolled in the other section(s) of this class and the instructor will take measures to prevent this.
