Details about this class

This course offers a comprehensive exploration into preparing projects for distribution, covering marketing technologies, streaming, media outlets, and social media with a focus on quality control and accessibility. Students will gain practical skills in digital editing and compression software, understand distribution outlets, and learn strategies for engaging audiences effectively.

This is a fully online, 11-week course. This is different than a Remote class. We do not meet at a regularly scheduled time.

All of your work will be completed asynchronously (on your own time) in D2L Brightspace.

This is not a self-paced class. Modules, Lessons, Lectures, Quizzes, and Project Assignments have specific due dates. Each week's work is due by Sunday night.

Technology

The technical requirements for most online classes include access to a computer with a modern operating system and a supported web browser

You may complete coursework in the computer labs in Cascade MAHB 215, 217, 219, or at the Cascade Library.

In this course you will need access to:

  • Microsoft Word or equivalent (Google Docs, iWork, etc). You must be able to save files as doc, docx, rtf, odt, txt, or pdf format.
  • The Adobe Creative Suite. Specifically, Adobe Premiere.
  • Firefox or Chrome browser. Safari doesn't work well with video on PCC's Student Web Server
  • You will need to install no-cost software for this class. Please don't do so now; instructions will be given during the Week 2 lesson. Additional Software to be installed includes current versions of:
    • Handbrake
    • MediaInfo
    • VLC Media Player
    • OBS Studio - Open Broadcaster Software
  • You will also be required to set up no-cost hosting accounts at hosting services such as youtube.com,  vimeo.com, linkedin.com, etc.
  • You must be able to work with documents and upload your assignments via the Assignments link in D2L

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
