Details about this class

This is a one-credit class designed to improve your research skills for success in college and in your daily life. You will learn about how different types of information sources are created, what they're useful for, how to evaluate them, and will get experience finding quality information from books, magazines, newspapers, journals, the web, etc. Successful students in this class will become proficient searching the open Internet and the library’s databases to select the best sources for a particular information need.

The course is a five week-long compressed course, which means that the expectations for each week are closer to that of a two-credit course, though the class lasts half the time of a typical ten week course. At PCC, the expectations are that a 1 credit course will require 30 hours-worth of work overall (readings, lectures, assignments, discussions, etc.).

Technology

There is no additional technology required for this class.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
