Details about this class

This class is fully online - there are no in-person or remote meetings over Zoom.  The class focuses on case studies in modern world history, including the American, French, and Haitian Revolutions, the industrial revolution, political and economic developments in the 1800s, European imperialism, the world wars, the Cold War, decolonization, and the history of the post-WWII era.

There are short weekly assignments focuses on analyzing sources from history, three quizzes on the readings over the course of the term, and one essay.  No prior knowledge of history is required and the readings are kept concise and focused so that there isn't an overwhelming amount of work.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.

Online Prerequisite | Start Guide for Online Learning

Before you take your first online class at PCC, you must complete the start guide for online learning. The start guide will help you decide if online classes are right for you. Once you complete the start guide, you will be eligible to register for online classes.
