Welcome! ED 100 is an engaging introduction to the world of education, designed for future educators who are curious, passionate, and ready to make a difference. In this course, you’ll explore the historical, societal, legal, ethical, and equity issues that have shaped the U.S. education system, and discover how they continue to influence classrooms today. You’ll also examine exciting career pathways in education while reflecting on your own goals and readiness for the field, developing practical career tools such as a résumé, cover letter, and interview profile along the way. Learning is interactive and dynamic, with opportunities to engage through tools like VoiceThread and Hypothesis, as well as AI-supported activities that spark discussion and reflection. There is no required textbook; all course materials are provided through free, accessible online resources. I am deeply committed to supporting your growth and success as you begin (or continue) your journey into the meaningful and impactful field of education.
