Details about this class

In CS 233G we will explore the realm of 3D game development. The class will explore the methods and tools used by video game developers to better understand today's interactive mediums. The class focuses on building instead of exams, tinkering rather than talking, and understanding the mechanics instead of memorization.

This class will focus on the fundamentals of Object Oriented Programming and how best to use the methodology of OOP when implementing a video game.

Note: This is a remote class. We will record the classes to the Zoom Cloud so anyone may view them afterward on D2L.

Technology

Primary Apps

  • Godot 4: https://godotengine.org/ - our game engine. It's open source, light weight, and easy to use.
  • GitHub Desktop: https://desktop.github.com/ - our version control system. It allows us to keep our projects organized.
  • Discord: https://discord.com/ - our communications app. It's a popular app to coordinate projects or just hang. We'll be using Discord for lab time, group project communications, plus more fun.
