Details about this class

Hello!

This class is completely online with no synchronous meetings.  We use an OER textbook- that stands for Open Educational Resource, which means it is free!

Each week there is a Module to complete, looking at ourselves as listeners, and in various contexts and relationships.  For each Module there is an Exercise (due Wednesdays) and a Discussion (due Thursdays) every week- to apply information we are learning about communication.

Then, there are 3 short Homework Assignments due throughout the term (about every 3 weeks).
And we conclude the class with a paper analyzing our communication habits and behaviors, based on a communication concept of your choice.

Some of the communication concepts include interpersonal relationships, listening, mass communication, verbal and nonverbal communication.  We focus on types of communication and how we can improve.  I love teaching this class as it is so relevant to our everyday lives and relationships.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at kathleen.doss@pcc.edu
