Details about this class

This is a fully online course with labs, lectures, quizzes, homework, and the final exam all online. The labs will be done at home with a purchased lab kit.  You may use your financial aid right now to purchase a lab kit voucher from the PCC bookstore. You will use this voucher to order  the lab kit through the link below.  The PCC bookstore does not carry the lab kits.

You may also purchase the lab kit directly through the vendor, Science Interactive.

It can take awhile to receive your lab kit once it is ordered so it may be beneficial to buy it as soon as you are able.

The links for the online homework and the labs will also be available from the Instructor via a course email and within the course once it opens.

Chemistry 105OL is offered through the Desire to Learn course management system.

This class continues using the same text and OWL homework as CH 104OL. You do not need to buy a new text or OWL code if you bought one for CH 104OL.

Technology

You will need to be able to use a Word related program such as Google docs which is free with your MyPCC gmail. Or you may choose to up load a free Word program like Office 365 - this is free for students/staff - https://products.office.com/en-us/student/office-in-education.

You will need to be able to upload photos of each week's lab setup and of yourself working on the lab ("selfies") for each lab. You can use your phone to take photos and do this.

We offer online live office hours through “Zoom”, accessed through D2L.

You will be using an online homework program (which comes with a free e-text).

You will be using another online website to access labs.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
