Details about this class

HEC 226 is a fast paced and dynamic class. As a 4 credit course, students should expect a range of 8-12 hours of reading, writing and viewing of course content including videos, online articles, and presentations per week. Workload depends largely on the weekly modules and when major assignments are due.

There are 3 major written assignments required and spread throughout the term. Assignments require work to be submitted in APA style. A style guide is provided in the course content and students should purchase the required APA textbook.

This course requires observations and/or interviews, both formal and informal. Students will need access to children of various ages/stages for observation as well as adults with children for interviews. Video options are provided for those who have limited access.

**Please note that spring HEC students will be using a free OER textbook that is being piloted. Students may be asked to provide feedback about the textbook during the term.

Technology

Students will need to view online videos with sound as well as have access to the internet 3-5 times per week for several hours each time. Written work requires use of software such as Microsoft Word. Microsoft programs are available for free to all PCC students and available through the PCC website.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
