Technology
This course is a hybrid (online lecture + in person lab & recitation) and it follows a “flipped classroom” model. Students are responsible for reviewing the course materials ahead of our recitation and come prepared to class.
LECTURE TEXTBOOK
We will use the Campbell Biology in Focus textbook available through the bookstore. An access code to Mastering Biology is NOT required. You may buy an older edition or a used textbook if you prefer. An older edition of Campbell Biology in Focus is accepted as well
Alternatively, you may use an Open Educational Resource biology textbook. https://openstax.org/details/books/concepts-biology
Please note: The Campbell Biology textbook is preferred as this is the material my lectures are based on and where the learning objectives and study materials come from. You can expect the Openstax text will have different images, diagrams, and wording (while it is still an accurate and reliable text if you choose to go that route).
LAB MANUAL
The lab manual does not need to be purchased. It will be made available to you as part of our course materials.
Cell Biology for Health Occupations Lab Manual (Fall, 2019) - PCC-Rock Creek.
