Details about this class

Welcome to BA 100: Business Career Planning

Hello.  My name is Connie Plowman.  I look forward to guiding you through this course.

Introduction

Are you ready to take control of your future?  This course is designed to help you do exactly that.  Together, we will be building a "Career Planning Tool Kit" -- to equip you with practical career planning tools and skills to maximize your employment opportunities.

Career Planning

In this course, you will gain clarity about your direction.  You will assess your interests, values, strengths, and skills; explore career paths and companies; and learn about PCC resources that support your career goals. Using a Career Management Process model, you will gain the focus, professionalism, and confidence needed to pursue internships and career opportunities with a competitive edge.

What You Will Gain

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Research and evaluate employment opportunities aligned with your career goals
  • Develop professional employment documents, networking and interview skills
  • Present yourself confidently and competitively to employers

Course Materials

There is no traditional textbook required for this course.  However, students must purchase "CliftonStrengths for Students" by Gallup, which includes a unique access code to complete the online assessment -- a key component of this course.

  • Important: You must purchase a NEW book with an unused access code. Used copies will not include a valid code.
  • It is essential that you have your CliftonStrengths access code at the start of the term, as assignments begin right away.

Course Format

This is a fully online, self-study course.  Dedicate time each week to read materials, watch videos and submit your best work - on time and with quality.

Are you ready to go from “I’m not sure what I want to do” to “I have a plan?"  If yes, this course is for you!

Your career starts now.

Technology

There is no additional technology required for this class.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
