ASL260 Introduction to Interpreting

Introduces ASL/English interpreting as a profession. Includes the roles and functions of interpreters, employment options, and an analysis of the demands and rewards of the career path. Covers fundamental interpreting skills and reviews linguistic and grammatical principles and conventions; explores strategies for developing ASL and English vocabulary and skills for effective communication. Prerequisite: ASL 103 or ASL 151 or department permission. (See course content and outcomes.)
