Details about this class

Hello! Thanks for your interest in Art 103: Understanding New Media Arts.

If you like learning about the intersection of art and technology then this class is for you! We'll explore new media from early film and video, to contemporary examples of immersive installations, performance, digital video, and NET art. To get a feel for the class, please view a SAMPLE syllabus here (our syllabus will look a little different but the basic information and structure is the same).

The class is entirely asynchronous, online, with recorded lectures and assignments outlined in weekly modules. This means there are no required Zoom meetings or lectures, and work can be completed according to your own schedule. We will use a free open educational resources (OER) textbook, so there are no materials to purchase.

I have also prepared a "liquid syllabus" that reviews our Health & Wellness statement, a basic course outline, and reviews the Week 1 Success Kit. Check it out by following this link: Art 103 Liquid Syllabus. Please note this page will be updated before the start of the quarter.

Please reach out with any questions and thanks for your interest in Art 103!
