Exploring Poetic Forms: Experiments and Journeys

Campus contacts

Loosen up your writing and access creativity by exploring imagistic poets, surrealists, beats and beyond. Play with form and language. Try free associative techniques, morning pages, cut ups, erasures and mesostics. All levels welcome.

We will write observational "thing poems," a la Rilke, try experimental journaling, practice Terrence Hayes' "golden shovel" and Joe Brainard's "I remember" technique, and more. From the traditions of observational free-verse to the more avant-garde, this class will offer inspiration and access to the generativity of your own writing practice.
