Details about this class

The theme for this class is Poetry: Resistance, Identity, and Culture. This class meets twice a week at the Rock Creek Campus and attendance is mandatory. All materials are available on D2L, and students must print them and bring them to class. To learn more about this course please see the course flyer here. Course readings consist of poetry or worksheets that show you examples of poetic form. All historical and material contexts discussed in my flyer are introduced by me through class lectures. At the end of the course, you will have completed a portfolio with 8 poems and a final project that allows you to explore a collection of poetry and a poet who works in community.

Additionally, our in-person meetings allow us to do in-class poetry art projects and complete full poetry workshops.

Technology

All readings are on D2L and students must print their readings and bring them to class.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
