Details about this class

This course focuses on writing short fiction for class discussion and analysis in a workshop setting. It explores the techniques, styles, and structures of the writings of established authors, as well as the creative writing process from development of an idea to revision of a manuscript.

Our time in class will have a generative focus. What I mean by "generative" is our class time will focus on creating new writing and discussing course materials, such as assigned readings and each others' writing. The goal is to produce words on the page shared ideas and community through discussion. It is my belief that one of the best lessons you may learn in this class is how to share your work and to engage with colleagues in analytical and creative discourse.

There will be a workshop in this class. A workshop is where your fiction is shared with, read by, and discussed by your classmates and I in a roundtable setting. The idea is to promote creative thinking and to learn how to share one's work.
