Details about this class

Please expect at least 2 more hours per week of online work that you complete on your own. Time management and planning is part of success in these online/in-person hybrids, but PCC has lots of resources to help.

Our class will delve into what it means to be a researcher, and how we can support the reading and writing processes to make both activities fun, powerful, and effective. We don't have exams!

Please note that this class is built on collaboration that is impossible with late work, so I do not accept late work, but I know that balancing time is tough, so I offer one free late per quarter and unlimited extra credit via tutoring or the library, both of which you can access in person or online. I also offer time in class to work, with plenty of support and feedback along the way. Your grade is 100% yours to control, and everyone is welcome and can achieve their goals in this class!

Technology

We will meet on in Zoom on Weds from 6-7:50PM and the remaining required hours are remote, which means you work on your own online to complete the coursework. You need wireless with sufficient bandwidth for viewing videos, uploading text, and downloading your work. If you have any trouble obtaining any of these items, please be aware you can check out a variety of tech equipment from PCC libraries, and you can use the PCC wireless for free on any PCC campus.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
