Details about this class
This class introduces the fundamentals of management and gives you a practical look at what it takes to be an effective supervisor. Throughout the term, you'll explore topics like planning, staffing, communication, conflict management, problem-solving, and continuous quality improvement while learning how these skills are applied in real workplace situations.
You'll also discover different leadership styles and how managers motivate, coach, and support employees to help them succeed. Along the way, you'll explore practical tools for hiring, training, and evaluating performance—skills that help create a workplace where employees feel supported, respected, and motivated to do their best.
One of the great things about this course is that it uses an Open Educational Resource (OER) textbook. That means your course materials are free to access online while still providing high-quality, up-to-date content. I encourage you to use the texts regularly, as they include helpful examples and resources that will support your learning throughout the course.
