Details about this class
This is a hybrid course presented as a series of weekly modules designed to guide you as you learn about earthquakes and volcanoes. Weekly activities include pre-recorded lecture videos, readings, online discussions using the D2L platform, and quizzes. Labs must be completed in-person. There are also exams and pre-lab quizzes in the in-person portion of the course. Students who have the most success with this course block off a significant chunk of time in their weekly schedule to devote to completing the course activities. You will need a reliable internet connection for this course. Attendance in the in-person lab portion of the course is an integral part of the course.
Please feel welcome to contact me by email (megan.faust@pcc.edu) with any questions you have about the course!

Technology
Reliable internet is very important to your success in this course as quizzes and discussions are all provided through the course D2L Brightspace page.
All course documents will be provided via google docs, google sheets or pdfs. Lecture videos are typically linked from our D2L page, discussion articles are web-based or videos.
Students will be asked to work with documents and upload assignments to the assignment dropboxes in D2L.
The technical requirements for most online classes include access to a computer with a modern operating system and a supported web browser. This course requires weekly labs which are difficult to complete on smartphones as they are documents to type into each week.
No show policy
Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
Online technical requirements
Please be sure to read the quick guide to Online Learning technical requirements.
