Details about this class
This is the lab portion of EET 111 Electrical Circuit Analysis I, which covers definitions of current, voltage, resistance, power, work, and efficiency; basic series, parallel and series-parallel DC/AC circuits analysis. This course is the "entry point" for any college majors in electricity or electronics, and is the foundation for any career in or related to electrical and electronic engineering.
In the lab portion of this course, you will develop the basic skills in building, measuring and simulating an electrical circuit to apply and reinforce the concepts developed during the lecture portion.
The entire EET 111 course (lecture plus lab) is a 5-credit course. For 5 credits, the college expects students to put in a total of 15 hours of in-class and out-of-class work. Be aware of your own learning styles and be realistic about how much time you’ll need to spend on this course.
Technology
In addition to what will be provided to you in the lab, you may also need:
- Access to a computer with a modern operating system, network connection and a supported web browser;
- Microsoft Office or equivalent (e.g. Google Docs), with the capability to save files in PDF format;
- Be able to work with documents and upload to Assignments in D2L (see Assignments – Google Apps Integration | Learning Technology Help Desk at PCC);
- If you use paper, the ability to scan in and create a single, multipage, PDF file using a smartphone or other scanning device;
- A TI-89 Titanium calculator or equivalent.
Open lab hours are set and managed by our lab manager, Mr. Trung Le. If you have any questions or comments about open lab hours, please contact him. Visit the technology support section of Student Support Resources for a complete list of apps and tools for PCC students.
