Mixed Media Painting: Still Life Unhinged
Take a container of miniature objects and combine it with an image to create a wild and ridiculous mixed media painting. No need to be an expert at drawing or painting. Use printmaking and collage to bring your scene to life.
Start with small toys, kitschy figurines and dollhouse furniture. Then select a background image in which you want to place these objects and combine them on the table to create a scene. Looking at the scene you made, plan your painting inside your sketchbook with prompts and questions to guide you in deciding which objects to include and which, if any, to exclude. Next, use the gel plate to print and paint papers for your finished collage. With a variety of paper to choose from, cut shapes and assemble them into a mixed media painting.
