Details about this class

Student will have to sign up with Cisco NetAcad (Free) and all reading will be through a NetAcad course. Labs will be performed on live equipment in the classroom and attendance will be mandatory. You will also download and use a free Netacad Cisco simulator "Packet Tracer" for practicing configurations when not in the lab.

There is one required book: CCNA 200-301 Portable Command Guide 5th ed. by Scott Thompson, Cisco Press, ISBN 9780135937822. This is not a textbook but a reference book that will help you find commands you need throughout the course. It is used throughout this course as well as CCNA2 and CCNA3 (CIS278B and CIS278C) if you go on to those courses.

Technology

You will need the latest version of Cisco Packet Tracer, which will be provided free from Cisco along with your NetAcad account which you will sett up during the first week. You will also need Wireshark (Free download) on your computer.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
