CH241 Organic Chemistry I

Introduces functional groups, nomenclature, structure and chemistry of alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, ethers, epoxides, IR spectroscopy, stereochemistry, and reaction mechanisms. Recommended: The PCC Chemistry department recommends students successfully complete a year-long general chemistry series and take CH 241, CH 242, and CH 243 in consecutive terms. Prerequisites: CH 223 or (CH 223Z and CH 229Z). Audit available. (See course content and outcomes.)
