Details about this class
This course uses an instructor-developed Business Communication Playbook along with CliftonStrengths for Students and Emotional Intelligence 2.0 materials. The course focuses on practical workplace communication, including professional writing, email, presentations, listening, audience awareness, feedback, EQ, CliftonStrengths, and communication as a leadership skill.
Students who have already completed the CliftonStrengths assessment and/or the Emotional Intelligence 2.0 assessment through another course, workplace, or professional setting do not need to purchase those materials again, as long as they still have access to their assessment results.
Students should expect applied communication activities, reflection assignments, professional writing, real-world workplace examples, and both individual and team-based work. This is not a traditional memorization-focused textbook course. The course is designed to help students develop practical workplace communication skills they can apply immediately in professional and everyday situations.
This is a hybrid course with both face-to-face class meetings and online work. Students will need to complete weekly readings, assignments, activities, and online coursework while managing their time effectively between class meetings.
