Details about this class
Welcome to BA 106 - Introduction to Excel for Business Data. This class introduces the basic features of Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet concepts to design and create accurate professional worksheets for use in the business world. Includes entering data, creating formulas and functions, professional formatting, creating charts, sorting data, and working with multiple sheet workbooks. Focuses on ways to ensure accuracy including proofreading techniques and critical thinking to determine what data to present and how to present it. Recommended: Strong digital literacy/computer skills, placement into (RD 115 and WR 115) or IRW 115 and MTH 20. Audit available.
The textbook is required, either in print or e-version. Make sure you have your textbook in hand by the start of class. All the homework assignments, quizzes, and assessments will be open book and online in D2L. Most deadlines in the class are flexible but if you follow the due dates your workload will be nicely spread out over the entire term.
Office hours during the term will be hosted through Zoom meetings via appointment if you have additional questions.

Microsoft Office
- Students must use Excel 2019 (Office 365) in this course.
- MAC users must either have the dual-booting system (Partition) that runs a Microsoft Operating system or use PCC Splashtop access to complete this course. MAC users needing Splashtop must inform your instructor as soon as possible so they can request Splashtop access. Tableau for Students
- This class requires the use of Tableau. Students will be given an access code for Tableau once the course begins.
No show policy
Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class. It is important to log in as soon as the class starts to see what the participation requirements are.
