Welcome to BA101: Introduction to Business

Behind every product, paycheck, and purchase is a business decision. Once you understand how those decisions work, you start seeing the world differently.

Hi everyone! I’m Aleshia King, your instructor for BA101. This course offers a broad introduction to how businesses function—from the flow of day-to-day operations to the strategies that shape long-term direction. We’ll explore key principles in areas like entrepreneurship, marketing, finance, management, and ethics, and examine how these functions work together to drive the decisions that impact our lives.

In this course, you can expect:

  • A learning environment that is collaborative, responsive, and grounded in real-world application

  • A focus on practical understanding over memorization, so you can see how business works in context

  • Space to explore new ideas through the lens of your existing strengths and interests

By the end of the term, you’ll be equipped with a strong foundation in how businesses create value, make decisions, and operate effectively. You’ll be prepared to apply what you’ve learned, leverage your strengths, and contribute to value-driven decisions in real business contexts.

I'm looking forward to a fun and productive term!
