APR241L Immunohematology I
Introduces the basic principles and procedures of general immunology, including the structure, function, and classification of antigens and antibodies. Presents the complement system and the principles underlying agglutination reactions. Covers the ABO and Rh blood group systems, as well as additional blood group systems, with emphasis on inheritance, testing principles, terminology, problem recognition and resolution, genotype and phenotype relationships, and the principles of antiglobulin testing. Prerequisites: Acceptance into the Medical Laboratory Technology Apprenticeship Program, APR 114L and APR1 115L. (See course content and outcomes.)
