As a civil engineering technician, you will help engineers plan, design, and construct environmental protection facilities, water and wastewater treatment plants, air pollution control systems, solid and hazardous waste disposal systems, structures, buildings, bridges, dams, transportation systems, highways, rapid transit facilities, airport and coastal improvements, land development projects, residential and commercial complexes, storm water control facilities, and utilities.
You will be called upon for a variety of assignments, helping administer and manage engineering and construction projects by doing field reconnaissance, engineering and boundary surveys, design calculations, environmental sampling, computer-aided drafting, construction layout, specification writing, sales, scheduling, estimating, construction management, serving people and creating a better world.
As a graduate of our program, you may work for consulting engineering firms, government agencies, contractors, industries, educational institutions or sales organizations.
PCC's program is designed to develop skills in:

How much can I earn?
Approximate starting salaries in the Portland area:
- Starting salary with AAS degree: $30,000 - $40,000.
- With experience: $40,000 - $50,000.
