The PCC Learning Gardens Harvest Week featured apple pressings and crafting, celebrating fall with students, staff and the community

This fall, faculty, staff, students and community members have enjoyed a variety of fun-filled events hosted across the college’s community garden spaces.

Activities have included eco crafts, garden tours, giveaways, live music and fresh apple cider pressings. The events were held at campus learning gardens to celebrate the fall bounty with activities ranging from fresh cider pressing to creating miniature pumpkin planters and crafting nature-inspired wreaths. The events are made possible through the partnership of the college’s sustainability and student engagement offices and staff with the STEAM Centers.

There is still time to experience the “Learning Garden Apple Cider Pressing: Crank, Press, and Taste!” from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 12 at the College Center Upper Mall, Sylvania Campus. Join in by helping cut, grind and crank the hand press to make real, fresh-squeezed apple juice.

The PCC Learning Gardens provide students with opportunities for hands-on, outdoor learning as well as access to fresh produce grown in the gardens.
