For Portland Community College’s Office of Planning and Capital Construction, the end of April offers the chance for a lot of “face time.”

Two networking events targeting MWESBSDV contractors and personnel — those qualifying as minority, women, emerging small businesses, and service disabled veterans — are being organized and led by PCC and will take place April 23 and 26.

“What we’ve planned are get-togethers that will be informational, helpful and that create momentum,” said Tyrone Henry, MWESB outreach manager at the college’s Office of Planning and Capital Construction.

PCC's Swan Island Trades Center.MWESBSDV contractors are invited to participate in a get-together on Tuesday, April 23, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on the first floor of Building 5 at the Rock Creek Campus (17705 NW Springville Rd., Portland, OR 97229).

The event will offer an opportunity to learn about upcoming contracting opportunities at PCC, have access to representatives from support services targeted to business owners, and network with industry executives.

Participation and support for the networking gathering comes from the college’s Planning and Capital Construction office, its Facilities Management Services division and its Small Business Development Center; the Certification Office for Business Inclusion and Diversity (COBID) in Oregon; Bremik Construction; Hoffman/Skanska PDX Joint Venture; Howard S. Wright; INLINE Construction; Kirby Naglehout Construction; Lease Crutcher Lewis, LLC; Mortenson Construction; Pence Construction; Robert Evans Company; and Swinerton Builders. Additionally, several financial institutions will be present to answer questions and assist MWESBSDV contractors with their financial needs.

A second event, in partnership with the City of Portland, is planned for Friday, April 26, and aimed at MWESBSDV professional services personnel. The networking opportunity will take place from 9-11 a.m. at the Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs (731 N. Hayden Meadows Drive, Portland, OR 97217).

Both events are free, and light refreshments will be provided.
