PCC’s Veterinary Technology Program helps provide industry with trained graduates

Photos and Story by

Vet TechTwenty-six students, all women, graduated from the PCC’s Veterinary Technology Program this year. They will all take their national board exam this summer. Eighty percent of the class have jobs waiting for them and the other 20 percent are relocating to Washington and California where the employment picture is very strong.

This class has left its mark on the Rock Creek Campus where the program is based. Class members have upgraded and weatherized the chicken coop at the farm, created larger pens for the rabbits to exercise, and have upgraded and remodeled the laboratory animal room giving the animals larger room to play and explore.

The program is the only one of its kind in Oregon, and one of four in the Northwest. Veterinary Technology prepares students to become certified vet technicians and to take the Veterinary Technician National Exam, administered by the Oregon Veterinary Medical Examining Board.
