Panthers were roaring once again in Oregon’s capital.
The Oregon Community College Association recently announced the selection of 55 students to the 2025 All-Oregon Academic Team (AOAT). The academic team included eight Portland Community College scholars — Amanda Moss, Abigail Robles, Armando Angeles-Hernandez, Gina Ferguson, Jaci Muma, Kelly Grant, Steph Ivanov and Meiling Zhou. Each honoree received a medallion and certificate, along with scholarship awards.
Ferguson was chosen to speak to the crowd at the recognition luncheon on April 18 at Chemeketa Community College in Salem. The event honored students and their families while showcasing the academic talent emerging from Oregon’s community colleges. This year’s keynote speaker was State Representative Ricki Ruiz (Gresham), a committed advocate for Oregon’s community college system and a PCC graduate.
The students represented community colleges from across the state and have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership and a deep commitment to community service. Many honorees are members of Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society for community college students.
Phi Theta Kappa along with community college presidents and community college state associations sponsor the All-State Community College Academic Team ceremonies in 38 participating states. Students nominated to the All-USA Community College Academic Team are automatically named to the All-State Community College Academic Teams.
“Congratulations to these remarkable students for their excellence in academics, leadership, and service,” said OCCA Board President Austin Folnagy. “We look forward to celebrating their achievements at this year’s recognition luncheon.”
